THROUGH WINTERS FROZEN SILENCE
15hx15wx7d Edition of 100
The snow gets deep and the wind
blows hard in the great American West in the dead of winter, driving
temperatures far below zero. Riding through winter's lonely frozen silence
hardly slowed these fearless riders at all. They broke trails where no one else
dared to go. They saddled their own ponies when the men hired for that job
refused to leave the warmth of their dugouts because it was cold. Even when
they lost their ponies they would make it to the next station carrying the mochila with their precious mail intact. If all the
individual stories of these mail carriers were ever told, no doubt they could
fill volumes, although the Pony Express barely lasted 19 months.
