SPIRIT OF THE MUSTANG

16hx12wx12d Edition of 75

In the 1920'a in Lincoln County, N.M., my Grandfather would take his boys (including my Father) out and round up a bunch of Mustangs and put them in his holding pen called the horse pasture, sometimes up to 200 head at a time. Needless to say a heap of them had lots of Spirit. They would Green Break the Best, and Drive the whole Bunch over into Texas and sell 'em.

The horses Ah grew up on were Mustangs and darn good Cow Ponies, too. The only problem was they still had enough Spirit to mess up mah Day in a rock pile or cactus patch 'fore they was ready to work, and then Ah wasn't. It's to those old Ponies Ah Dedicate this work.
